+A simple example block file.  The important parts are the lines that
+start with the greater than character - these are identifer lines for the
+sequences.  The first star is above the position of the first sequence 
+in the alingmnet which is written VERTICALLY down the page.  The second 
+star shows the end of the alignment.
+
+Anything else can be written here, except greater than signs and stars.
+
+This is the format produced by the AMPS package for multiple 
+sequence alignment.
