   9 <p>Jalview can retrieve sequences or features from many <a
  10         href="http://biodas.org/">DAS</a> sources at once. The DAS sources that
  11 it uses are discovered and selected <em>via</em> the DAS settings panel,
  12 opened either from the <a href="featuresettings.html">View&#8594;Feature
  13 Settings</a> dialog box from the alignment window's menu bar, or the <a
  14         href="featuresettings.html">Tools&#8594;Preferences</a> dialog box
  15 opened from the Desktop menu bar.</p>

  17 <p>The available sources are listed in the table using each source's
  18 Nickname as its identifier. Clicking on a source's entry in the table
  19 reveals more information about that service in the panel to the right.
  20 Select the tickbox in the &quot;Use Source&quot; column for a source to
  21 add it to the set Jalview queries for alignment and sequence features.</p>
  22 <p>You can filter the visible DAS sources by authority, type and
  23 &quot;label&quot;. You should read the DAS documentation to understand
  24 more about these values.
  25 <p><strong>Updating the list of sources</strong></p>
  26 <p>When the DAS Settings panel is first opened, and when the <strong>'Refresh
  27 source'</strong> buton is pressed, a list of DAS sources is retrieved from the
  28 DAS registry URL (set by default to the DAS registration server at
  29 http://das.sanger.ac.uk/registry/das1/sources/).</p>
  30 <p><strong>Adding your own DAS Sources</strong></p>
  31 <p>You can add your own DAS source to the list by clicking the
  32 &quot;Add Local Source&quot; button. Enter the URL and nickname of your
  33 additional service. It should be noted that Jalview 2.1 will not query
  34 additional sources for more information, but this will be implemented in
  35 future editions.
